The Challenge
AIMIM campaigns in Maharashtra's Marathwada region operate in a distinctive political environment — with a voter base concentrated in specific wards and localities, requiring hyper-local digital targeting rather than broad constituency-wide reach. The candidate entered the 60-day window with minimal digital presence and no structured online outreach mechanism, in a race where every vote in the base constituency was critical.
Content requirements were more complex than a standard constituency campaign. Urdu-language content was essential for reaching the candidate's core voter base, while Marathi content was needed to communicate with broader constituencies and local media. Production of high-quality content in both languages simultaneously, with authentic cultural and community sensitivity, required specialised capabilities that generic digital marketing teams do not have.
The compressed 60-day timeline left no room for sequential strategy — social media, WhatsApp mobilisation, and bulk outreach had to be built and running in parallel from week one. Any delay in activating the ground network would cost irreplaceable campaign time in the crucial mid-campaign period when voter impressions solidify.
Our Approach
We built the campaign around a hyper-local targeting strategy: rather than attempting broad constituency reach, we concentrated digital and WhatsApp resources in the ward clusters where AIMIM's voter base was strongest, ensuring maximum contact intensity in the areas that mattered most for vote delivery. Facebook and Instagram targeting was set at neighbourhood and ward level using detailed geographic filters.
A bilingual content engine was established from day one, producing daily Urdu and Marathi content in parallel. The Urdu content — covering community welfare schemes, the candidate's local development activities, and AIMIM party messaging — was produced by a native Urdu content specialist and reviewed for cultural accuracy before publishing. Marathi content used the same political messaging framework translated for the broader audience.
The WhatsApp mobilisation was organised through existing community networks within the candidate's strongest wards. Durrani Tech trained 25+ community-level WhatsApp group admins, providing them with daily multimedia content packages and a direct escalation channel to the campaign team for rapid response to local voter questions and concerns.
The Solution
The social media accounts were established and began publishing within 48 hours of engagement start. A daily content rhythm of 2-3 posts across Facebook and Instagram in both Urdu and Marathi built consistent voter visibility. Video content — short reels documenting the candidate's community visits and AIMIM's local development claims — achieved significantly higher organic reach than static graphics and became the campaign's primary engagement format.
The WhatsApp network covered the candidate's core ward clusters and reached an estimated 25,000+ voters through direct and forwarded distribution. In the final 10 days, a concentrated multimedia blast programme — combining audio messages from the candidate, polling booth information, and motivational turnout content — was distributed through the full WhatsApp network twice daily to maintain energy and turnout intent.
A bulk SMS programme in the final 72 hours reached all available voter contact numbers in the target wards with personalised booth-number reminders and a direct message from the candidate. The programme was executed in compliance with TRAI DLT registration requirements, ensuring 100% delivery compliance with regulatory standards.
